Meet the Team

Deborah Daniel
Grade 1 - Team Member
With the experience of 4 World Championships behind her, Debbie will be putting all her expertise into practice to go the extra mile with her new equine partner, Welsh pony Sam. Together they competed in the Para Class at Exloo and Kronenburg earlier this year gaining valuable International experience. Debbie was a member of Team GBR’s Bronze medal winning team in 2010/12 & 16 where she also won Individual Bronze in the G1. Previously a police officer she broke her back in a boat accident
Mick Ward
Grade 2 - Team Member
With two World Championships behind him, Mick will be driving his own Welsh cross; Douglas with whom he has been working with over the past season and again took the National Para Driving Championship title. A member of Team GBR’s Bronze medal winning team in 2012, Mick also won Individual Bronze in the Grade 2 class at the 2014 World Championships at Sandringham.
Jamie Williams
Grade 1 - Team Member
This will be Jamie’s second appearance on the World stage and having developed a strong repertoire with his Welsh Cob.; Emo he is hungry to improve on his previous placing where he was a member of the 2016 Bronze Medal winning Team. Before his accident Jamie was a black belt in karate, competing for England on four occasions. He started driving in 2007 after breaking his back in a car accident in 2004. Since then his he has gone from strength to strength.
Joanne McNicol
Grade 2 - Individual
A newcomer to the para squad, Joanne will be driving Texas, a 13-year-old Trotter Cross. Together they have been competing at Club and National Novice and developed a strong partnership. Joanne is over the moon to have been selected to represent Team GBR as an individual is very grateful to Andrea Scott who is letting her drive Texas (owned by Pip Holgate).
Joyce Carrick
Grade 1 - Individual
Although relatively new to the sport of driving, Joyce is not to horses. A keen equestrian in her youth,, a freak accident in the stable in 2012 resulted in paralysis. Initially determined to ride again, it was a chance meeting with Chris Ainscough that led her to take up the reins and experience the feeling of freedom driving across fields and round obstacles that she had had whilst riding. This is when her driving addiction started
